Gerhard Schulz, born in Berlin 1954, presently living in Hamburg, Germany

My enthusiasm for the fascinating natural environment of animals and plants began in my childhood. Magazines and books helped to keep my interest alive into adulthood. My first trip to Kenia, in 1987, gave me the inspiration to catch my wildlife experiences with a camera. Since then I have been taking pictures of free living animals, plants, and natural landscapes predominantly in National Parks in Germany, Europe, and the United States.

My photos have been published in magazines such as: "Das TIER" (Germany), "KOSMOS" (Germany), "OASIS" (Italy), "OUTDOOR" (Japan) and "NATIONAL WILDLIFE" (United States).

I work with Canon EOS 1V-bodies and Canon lenses (17-35mm/f2.8 L, 28-70mm/f2.8 L, 100mm/f2.8 Macro, 300mm/f4.0 L IS, 600mm/f4.0 L) and I use Sachtler and Gitzo tripods. I prefer to use Fuji Sensia 100 and Fuji Velvia 50 films.

I have received several awards and prizes at national and international competitions, including a "Allover-Winner" at the "Glanzlichter der Natur" competition at Rosenheim, Germany in 1999.
